for Ethics and Technology
My main interest is environmental ethics and policy, with a particular focus on matters of value, obligation, and political legitimacy that arise as American metropolitan areas change and grow over time. I am currently giving a great deal attention to what I have called the limits of ethics: understanding what it is like to try to do the right thing in situations where it may be difficult to think clearly, to act consistently, or even to do anything at all. For example, I am collaborating on an investigation of ordinary Atlanta residents’ perceptions of the BeltLine project and its prospects, noting both what they imagine to be the main constraints on the project and the various ways their own choices and actions may be constrained.
