Regents' Professor & Professor of Cognitive Science

My research focuses on creativity and innovation in science and engineering. In particular, I am interested in how scientists and engineers investigate nature through conceptual, physical, and computational models. The account I am developing brings together and integrates methods and conceptual frameworks from cognitive science, philosophy of science, and history of science. I seek to develop an account of how a dynamic and evolving interplay of cognition and culture support and sustain creative and innovative scientific practices.
