Assistant Professor

My primary research interests lie between philosophy of science, science and technology policy, and philosophy of medicine. More specifically, I examine the role that the broader social context of science – including social values, cultural practices, and political ideals – plays in scientific decision-making, and the epistemic and ethical implications of the social organization of science, especially of recent biomedical research. In this latter context, I am interested in the implications of the growing emphasis upon the commercialization of biomedical research, and in particular, in the effects of intellectual property policies upon the production and distribution of knowledge.
